Is the entrance the highlight of Karnak Temple in Luxor?

As we walked through the entrance at the first pylon, the scale of the temple complex became apparent… Then the Great Hypostyle Hall appeared…. The intricately carved 70 foot columns are definitely my favourite highlight!

You can’t visit Luxor without walking along the Avenue of Sphinxes towards the greatest temple of them all.

As soon as you see Karnak’s entrance, you will go on an imaginative journey back into a pharaoh's world in ancient Egypt.

Visiting Medinet Habu Temple in Luxor, Egypt.

Just as I thought our West Bank tour was over.. we pulled into a car park which unveiled a giant temple.

Medinet Habu Temple quickly became my favourite West Bank treasure.

It doesn’t have the famous reputation of the Giza Pyramids, or Karnak Temple in Egypt. However, it is just as impressive, with vibrantly coloured hieroglyphics, and deep carvings depicting ancient battles covering the various highlights which make up the Temple Complex.

Walking along the River Nile in Luxor, I noticed yet another Egyptian flag flying high. The locals are proud of their country and their flag of Africa.

Throughout my Egypt trip, I kept seeing the tricolour flag and famous colours of red, black, and white decorating famous landmarks, boats, and while I was on my city break in Cairo, I saw many flags hanging from the unfinished towering housing blocks.

So what is the meaning behind the iconic eagle logo, and what do Egypt’s famous colours signify? The flag represents an important aspect of the nation’s more recent history!
